After living in 12 houses over 30 years, real estate agents Ken and Toni Scrogings have finally found their dream home at Brookfield Residential Properties’ Gallery House.
For decades the Scrogings have bought properties to fit their family, however, as their priorities shifted and apartment-living beckoned, it took several years to find ‘the one’.
“When we discovered Gallery House, we were sold – we bought this one with our heart,” said Mr Scrogings.
“We have bought and sold so many homes over the years and always compromised on something.
“Purchasing our Gallery House apartment was really the first time we felt like ‘this is where we want to live’.
“Owning a real estate agency, I know that if it’s somewhere we really want to live, other people will also want to live here, so for us it’s a safe bet.”
The Clayfield residents will relocate to the Hamilton-based Gallery House once construction is complete on the first tower later in 2019.
With two of their three children no longer living at home, the couple wanted to transition to apartment-living and take advantage of the maintenance-free lifestyle. They purchased a luxury three-bedroom plus multipurpose room ‘Sky Home’ in the 20-storey Gallery House Tower One.
“Ken and I had a list of things we wanted for ourselves in an apartment, and we also wanted somewhere that could double as a ‘family home’ when our kids come to stay,” said Mrs Scrogings.
“Above all, we wanted top quality finishes. We are fussy – we have a beautiful home in Clayfield so we wanted to buy something that was nicer than what we have – we just couldn’t find that in other projects.
“The finishes at Gallery House really won us over.”
Mrs Scrogings said the finishes were matched by the views.
“The views from our Sky Home are the kind you get when you’re on holiday,” she said.
“I can’t believe the river, city and mountain views will be my ‘every day’. They make you feel so relaxed.”
Gallery House is just six kilometres from the CBD and within easy access to major roads, the airport and public transport.
The project also neighbours the retail and residential precinct of Portside Wharf, which Mr Scrogings said was a major drawcard.
“Gallery House is a quality development in a quality position,” he said.
“The prime waterfront location, river views that can’t be built out and local facilities will continue to add value.”
Brookfield Residential Properties’ General Manager Lee Butterworth said the Scrogings were typical of many Gallery House buyers.
“Our penthouses and Sky Homes have been sold to local downsizers who live in high-end homes and are now looking for something even more luxurious with incredible views and low maintenance,” he said.
“For these buyers, Gallery House is the perfect choice. It offers a premium address with direct access to boutique retail, waterfront restaurants, residents-only sanctuaries including a podium garden and rooftop infinity pool with panoramic vistas.
“The combination of quality and location is irresistible for those who recognise the value and lifestyle benefits of living in on the rivers’ edge in one of Brisbane’s most luxurious apartments.”
Sales in Gallery House have reached more than $198 million. The two towers are being constructed by Multiplex with Gallery House One now past the halfway mark and Gallery House Two at level 6.
The $271 million luxury apartment project occupies a prime riverfront position that offers uninterrupted views of the Brisbane River and city skyline to the mountains beyond.
Sky Homes in Gallery House start from $1.36 million; while penthouses start from $2.295 million. For more information on Gallery House visit the Sales & Display Centre at Portside Wharf or www.gallery-house.com.au
