Paul Makepeace was searching for a place to call home after a decade-long stint overseas, with two prerequisites he had been missing – ‘somewhere close to my daughters and somewhere that felt like a community’.
Now, Mr Makepeace is just months from moving “home” as his new apartment at Brookfield Residential Properties’ Gallery House nears completion and prepares to call for settlements.
He said he found the perfect balance of location and connectedness at the luxury residential project in Hamilton, where he purchased a two bedroom apartment from the ‘River Collection’.
“After 10 years abroad, I’m moving home to be closer to family and wanted to live somewhere that provided me with something I’ve been missing for a while now – a sense of community,” he said.
“The location of Gallery House next to Portside Wharf, and the building’s well-designed communal areas, makes it feel more like a neighbourhood than an apartment development.
“That sense of connectedness is something other projects I looked at just didn’t have.”
Mr Makepeace said being able to see Northshore Hamilton’s master plan confirmed he was buying somewhere that had taken future growth into consideration.
“So much development is done on the fly, so to be able to see the plans – not just for Brookfield’s parcel of land, but for the whole of Northshore Hamilton – was a real drawcard for me,” he said.
“The community has been well thought-out and I can see where future amenity and infrastructure will be added.”
Gallery House occupies an absolute riverfront parcel in the $5 billion Northshore Hamilton precinct – a 304 hectare development that is the largest waterfront urban renewal project in Queensland.
Brookfield Residential Properties is the most active developer in Northshore Hamilton, having already delivered six apartment buildings as part of its neighbouring Portside Wharf retail and residential community.
Gallery House is its latest project and its most luxurious to date, comprising two buildings, both of which are under construction, on absolute riverfront land. It features 315 premium apartments and penthouses with resident-only facilities, including a rooftop sanctuary with infinity pool, lounge and barbeque areas and a podium level garden.
Brookfield Residential Properties’ Managing Director Lee Butterworth said his company’s transformation of what was unused State land was the catalyst for the Northshore Hamilton redevelopment.
He said the Northshore Hamilton masterplan had been meticulously designed to create a community that offered some of the best living opportunities in Queensland.
“Northshore Hamilton will eventually be home to some 20,000 residents so we ensured the design for our six-hectare parcel focused on creating a community that had easy access to infrastructure and amenity, now and into the future,” he said.
“The centrepiece of our master plan – the retail and residential precinct, Portside Wharf – was created with liveability in mind, while our individual buildings focus on delivering luxury living opportunities that encourage community and connection through exceptionally designed apartments and shared spaces.
“We don’t just want to construct apartment buildings; we want to create communities that people want to be part of.
“We feel we’ve achieved that at Portside Wharf and are replicating it, on a more luxurious scale, at Gallery House.”
Sales in Gallery House have reached more than $215 million.
Settlements are anticipated to be called for Gallery House One in late August, with 90 per cent of apartments now sold.
Gallery House Two is earmarked for completion late this year and has just 28 apartments remaining for sale.
The $271 million luxury apartment project occupies a prime riverfront position that offers uninterrupted views of the Brisbane River and city skyline, to the mountains beyond.
Located just six kilometres from the CBD, it has easy access to the CityCat, major arterial roads and motorways, key employment hubs and the Brisbane Airport; and direct access to the shops and restaurants of Portside Wharf.
Gallery House One has 16 apartments remaining, all of which have river views, priced from $915,000.
Gallery House Two has apartments ranging from $665,000 to $2.295 million, including a limited number of penthouses.
